MEHRANGARH FORT ---KINGS AND QUEENS

Indian state of Rajasthan is a door way of wonderful land of sand dunes and shrubs, rocky terrains and thorny trees.
Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur in the Indian state of Rajasthan, 5 kms from the city, is one of the largest forts of India, country full of forts and ancient cultures.
In 1458 , Rao Jodha , chief of Rathore clan of Rajputs, worried about safety of his kingdom since Mandore fort was no longer considered a stronger and a safe place, built this fort as his sitting place.Mehrangarh fort is 9 kms from Mandore. The lofty height of 400 ft, with the imposing thick walls, inside there are several places, with intricate carvings, the temples and the palaces of the kings choice is the famous tourists place in India.
Jodha took extreme steps to see that the fort is propitious; he buried a live man at the place of the fort and in return promised that his family shall be taken care of.There are seven gates one has to cross to enter the fort, the gates are the witness of the wars, on the second gate the damage done by the cannon balls hit by the Jaipur armies can still be seen.
All the seven gate were built by different kings, to celebrate their victories over the enemies.
Inside the fort there are several places of interests but two are most tourist attractions.
Moti Mahal or the Pearl Palace, with 5 alcoves with hidden balconies for the five queens of Raja Sur Singh, so that his queens could listen the courts proceedings.Sheel Mahal or The Hall of Mirrors, with super imposed mirror work with brightly painted religious figures made of plaster.
Jodhpur is well connected to all major cities of India, by air, rail and road. The city, a place full of interesting places has many hotels of international standards.
