ALMORA

Escape from the heat of the tropical Sun and enjoy the spectacular snow of the central Himalayas in the small horse-shoe shaped small town called Almora. The town is extremely serene and the beauty of nature is such that people come here to spend a few days but simply fall in love and return to this place time and again. This town is built on a 5 km long mountain trail. The town was once the capital city of Kumau. The historic fort and the government buildings that were once the seat of power, have now become places of tourist attraction. Founded in 1568, Almora has had its place of importance in history as well. Right from Swami Vivekananda to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the city of Almora has impressed all and sundry. The quite beauty, excellent climate and peaceful atmosphere of the city is its unique selling proposition.
The city of Almora is well connected by road from all major Indian cities. If you wish to travel by air the nearest airport is at Pant Nagar in Nainital. It must, however, be noted that regular flights are operational only in summer months. People who will prefer to travel by train too should not find any difficulty. The nearest railway station is Kathgodam. The beauty of Almora is spellbinding and it compells people to come back again and again.
